KC & Rayne's Bookshelf

Welcome to my bookshelf!

My bookshelf will always be a work in progress. New books will be posted, old books retired for a bit of updating, or maybe I'll make a new cover that looks less dated. Every day is a new adventure, and I'm always thinking of new and better ways of presenting my books.
Enjoy!

Ian Coulter, Private Investigator. An ex-cop with a threat hanging over his head.
Rick Mohr, undercover. An FBI agent with a mole in his department
who threatens to expose him.

Ian and Rick join forces and Ian unexpectedly finds himself somewhere he
never envisioned - in a relationship. It's not all smooth sailing for Ian and Rick.
Blending their lives together takes a lot of hard work but they know it's worth it.

If you like your romance to have some gritty relationship reality,
then Ian and Rick are the couple for you.

This is a five-book story arc and is best read in the order below.

Shapeshifters. They're an urban legend, right?
That's what Lieutenant Fallon Roxbury believes until he meets a young man called Sundown
who checks every box of what Fallon finds attractive in a lover.
There's just this one little thing Sundown claims that's a little strange -
he's not exactly human.

If you like your romance with a touch of the other-worldly and a glimmer of the paranormal with a dash of science fiction for seasoning, this five-book story arc is for you.

The Sundown Saga is best enjoyed when read in this order.

From St. Lucia to Ocracoke Island, what brings lovers together
is as constant and as ever-changing as the sea.

Each story in the Southern Cross series stands alone, but the characters introduced in Netting Neptune have cameos in subsequent stories. For those who like to read a "series" or a "collection" in the order in which it was written, follow the order laid out below.

And no - the sea god reference has nothing to do with fantasy romance.
These are contemporary stories.

I didn't set out to write a series, and this is not a "series" in the strictest usage of the word. I prefer to call it a collection. I set out to write a story that included a main character who had a long history with his friends. It was a short step from the original concept to a collection of
stand-alone books all set in Marionville and all connected by friendship. Of course, being friends and once introduced, the characters tend to pop up in subsequent stories.

If you'd like to read these stories in the order in which they were written, just follow the way they are listed here. Will there be more Marionville stories? I'm not sure, but I am connecting the characters in the  Centerville Muscle collection to the town of Marionville in a few small ways. To me, the characters feel more alive when they have a community and a wider family. - KC

Centerville Muscle

I love muscle cars.

I always envisioned Bored, Stroked and Blueprinted to be the start of a series. I didn't think it would take this long to get it going, but life, death, pandemic...

Now that I have the series started, I've no clue where it may end, but I can tell you some of my all-time favorite cars, and some true classics, will land on the pages.

Levi & Stacy

Levi and Stacy hold a special place in the booklist. Shining Victory is written from Stacy's point of view. No One But You is from Levi's. It has long been the plan to write another segment from Stacy's pov, but fear of mucking it up has thus far prevailed.
Do not abandon hope. It may yet happen.

(KC's alter ego)

Before I started to write as KC Kendricks, I wrote under the pen name of Rayne Forrest. Publishing was different at the turn of the millennium with epublishing taking off and before the rise of the independent author. I wrote more traditional romance because that's what publishers wanted. I saw the m/m (slash) genre start to take off and since
I enjoyed reading m/m, decided to write a couple of stories.
But should I publish them under the Rayne Forrest brand?

The prevailing wisdom was no, I should not. Rayne Forrest's "brand"
was not m/m, and KC Kendricks came into being. I never expected to eclipse the success of Rayne with KC, but that is what happened.

The Rayne Forrest books are near and dear to my heart. I could shutter them,
but having them available to readers is the better option.
I hope you'll find a story among them that speaks to you. Enjoy!

I've always loved poetry, and write the occasional poem. One day I realized I had enough poems for a volume and decided to publish them.
